The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is an autonomous body under the Department of Space, Government of India. It was formed in 1969 as a joint venture between the Department of Atomic Energy and the Indian Space Research Organisation. ISRO has its headquarters in Bangalore, Karnataka.
ISRO’s work is focused on space science and technology including satellite navigation, communication satellites, rocketry, human spaceflight and inter-planetary missions. Its prime objective is to conduct research and development activities in space science which are meant to meet the national goals such as resource utilisation through space applications etc..
